FORM Quantum Research — May 28, 2026
FORM $133.03 — bullish above $125.31, bearish below $112.30
Line in the sand
FORM closed Tuesday at $133.03 after a controlled four-session recovery from the May 19 low of $112.30. The stock is the only profitable mid-cap in the quantum basket — a picks-and-shovels exposure through cryogenic probe/test systems used in quantum hardware labs. The May 20 pivot at $125.31 is the line in the sand. Hold $125.31 on a daily close and the path of least resistance points back to $139.92 (May 26 reclaim) and the wave projection at $141.06, then a re-test of the cycle high at $157.63. Lose $125.31 and the May 19 C-wave low at $112.30 is the next test; lose $112.30 and the structure broadens out toward the $107 February peak (now support) and the $82.35 March mid-cycle low.
Technical structure
Weekly: FORM is roughly 6x off its yearly low of $26.08 set the week of August 1, 2025 — a single-day earnings gap-down (open $26.15, close $28.41 on 4.3M shares versus normal 500-700K) that established the cycle bottom. From there a methodical multi-leg uptrend: late Sep/early Oct ramp from the $30s to $42; an Oct 30 gap-and-go from $48 to $59 on 5.1M shares (FY25 Q3 earnings); a Nov-Dec base near $55; the Jan-Feb 2026 acceleration through $80 into $107 (Feb 25 first peak at $107.04); a Mar 6 mid-cycle pullback to $82.35; then the parabolic Mar-May leg to the May 11 cycle high at $157.63. The pullback through May 19 to $112.30 was sharp but contained.
Daily (last 126 sessions): the cleanest ABCD setup in the basket:
- A = March 6 low at $82.35
- B = May 11 high at $157.63
- C = May 19 low at $112.30 (28% pullback off B — shallow)
- D = May 26 high at $139.92 (in progress)
Math: B−A = 75.28, so C+0.382×(B−A) = $141.06, C+0.618×(B−A) = $158.82, C+1.0×(B−A) = $187.58. The 0.382 sits right at Tuesday's $133 zone; pushing through $141.06 opens $158.82 and then the prior cycle high at $157.63 as the next resistance band — these are functionally the same level. The 2/3 speed line drawn from the March 6 low through the May 11 high passes through the mid-$130s, exactly where price has stalled.
Fundamentals
- Revenue TTM: $796.0M (+6.7% YoY)
- Gross margin: 38.3%
- Operating income TTM: +$50.2M (the only profitable name in the basket)
- Cash + ST investments: $306.2M (as of 2026-03-28)
- Quarterly operating cash flow: +$45.0M (positive cash-generation)
- Runway: not applicable — cash-flow positive
- Diluted shares: 78.0M (much smaller share count than the pure-plays)
- Source: latest 10-Q filed for period ending 2026-03-28
Valuation
- Market cap: $133.03 × 78.0M = $10.37B
- P/Sales TTM: ~13.0×
- EV/Sales: ~12.6× (cash-adjusted)
- Peer median P/S (6-ticker basket): IONQ ~184×, QBTS ~412×, RGTI ~850×, QUBT ~3,800× — FORM at ~13× is the only valuation in the basket that resembles a normal semi-equipment multiple.
- Position vs peers: far below on multiples, but the bull case is different — FORM gives you exposure to the quantum buildout via cryogenic probe/test demand without taking pure-play binary risk. The trade-off: revenue is only +7% YoY and the bulk of business is still mainstream semi-test, so the "quantum upside" is incremental rather than dominant.
Catalysts
- Q1 2026 reported in early Q2 (data is in latest 10-Q period ending Mar 28); company has been printing record quarterly/annual revenues — source 10-Q
- Q2 2026 guidance update (Apr 29, 2026): EPS guidance $0.57-$0.65 vs consensus $0.42 — well above expectations — source Marketbeat
- Analyst Day held May 11, 2026 to discuss strategy and updated long-term financial model
- Keystone Photonics acquisition: strategic acquisition to strengthen leadership in co-packaged optics testing (CPO is a growing AI-infra adjacency)
- Cryogenic systems sales to quantum labs (IonQ, IBM, etc.) and scientific institutions provide direct quantum-buildout exposure
