CPER $38.35 — bullish above $37.46, bearish below $36.12
Line in the sand
The whole structure hinges on two prints: the 27.08 low from July 31, 2025 (the session after the tariff-shock crash gapped CPER from a 34.71 open down to a 28.19 low on July 30, 2025 — real bars, huge 3.27M/2.42M share volume days) and the 40.78 high from May 13, 2026, the top of the leg that followed. Since that high, CPER carved a corrective low at 36.12 on June 24, 2026, then rallied to a fresh reaction high of 39.745 on July 21, 2026 before fading to today's $38.35. The near-term pivot is the 1/3 speed line off the June 24 → July 21 leg, currently near $37.46 — hold above it and the June-to-July advance stays at pace; lose it and the next test is the 36.12 multi-week floor. Above price, 39.745 (last week's high) and 40.44/40.78 (the January spike high and the May cycle top) cap the range.
How the analysis was built
The cycle low anchor is 27.08 (July 31, 2025) — the wick low printed one session after the crash bar (open 34.71, high 35.94, low 28.19, close 28.24 on July 30, 2025, volume 3,275,563). That crash and the immediate low a day later mark the start (A) of the current multi-quarter advance. From there CPER built a choppy base through Q3-Q4 2025 before trending to a cycle high of 40.78 on May 13, 2026 (B), a print confirmed by the adjacent 40.46 high on May 12 and 40.44 close on the same day. The pullback from that high found support at 36.12 on June 24, 2026 (C) — a level that also lines up with the bottom of the ascending channel built off the March 20, 2026 low (32.305) and the June 24 low. From C, price resumed higher into 39.745 on July 21, 2026 (D), the most recent reaction high, before rolling over into the current three-session fade to $38.35.
Speed-line math off the C→D leg (origin 36.12 on 2026-06-24, extreme 39.745 on 2026-07-21) puts the 1/3 line near $38.81 and the 2/3 line near $37.46 as of today's date. Price closing at 38.35 — below the 1/3 line — signals the rally has decelerated; the 2/3 line at ~37.46 is the next real test, and it converges neatly with the July 17 session low of 37.52 and the June 23 low of 37.24, giving that zone extra weight as a support cluster.
The ABC measured-move framework off A (27.08) - B (40.78) - C (36.12) throws two upside targets that cluster together: C + 61.8%×(B−A) = 36.12 + 0.618×13.70 = 44.59, and the classic 2B−C measured move, B − C + B = 45.44. Both sit well above the current channel top (40.44/40.78), so they're forward targets rather than near-term resistance — but they define where the next leg could exhaust if CPER clears the 40.44/40.78 ceiling decisively.
Copper is a textbook global-growth bellwether, and CPER's chart tells that story cleanly: the crash low near 27, the multi-quarter grind higher into 40+, and the current shallow give-back all track the broader industrial-cycle narrative rather than an idiosyncratic single-name move. The long-horizon channel — bottom rising from 27.08 (Jul 2025) through 36.12 (Jun 2026), top holding 40.44-40.78 (Jan/May 2026) — is still intact on a weekly-close basis, which keeps the larger uptrend the default read as long as 36.12 holds.
