Smart money is quietly loading 5 stocks
We compared the 13F-HR filings for periods ending 2026-06-30 (filed Aug 14, 2026) against 2026-03-31 (filed May 15, 2026) for the five funds on the watchlist: Berkshire Hathaway, Bridgewater Associates, Renaissance Technologies, Citadel Advisors, and Two Sigma Investments. Roughly forty manager-tickers cleared the per-fund acceleration thresholds; only five names were accumulated by two or more funds simultaneously without failing the retail-attention screen. The single most striking finding: Medtronic (MDT) was a fresh Renaissance opening, a Two Sigma quintupling (+417%), and a Citadel add (+153%) in the same quarter — three unrelated shops piling into a boring med-device name one quarter before Medtronic's Sept 1 beat-and-raise (Q1 FY27 organic growth +13.7%, guidance lifted). Institutions front-ran that print by a full quarter. Berkshire's mega-cap GOOGL/GOOG add and Delta rebuild both cleared the acceleration filter but did not survive the multi-fund + retail-attention screens (mega-cap ex-carve-out).
MDT
Medtronic plcThree unrelated managers piled into Medtronic in the same quarter — Renaissance opened a fresh 3.2M-share stake, Two Sigma quintupled its position (+417%), and Citadel added 153% — all before MDT delivered a beat-and-raise on Sept 1 (Q1 FY27 organic growth +13.7%, cardiovascular +19.5%, guidance lifted). Retail still frames MDT as a slow-growing diabetes-and-dividend name; the institutional read is a re-rating driven by pulsed-field ablation (Affera/Sphere-9) inflecting the CRM franchise, Hugo robotic surgery ramping, and diabetes accelerating simultaneously. Multi-manager, pre-catalyst positioning into a name Wall Street stopped covering with conviction.
